Throughout my life as an Episcopal priest, I have found that a well-done funeral not only shows honor and respect to the departed, but also helps the bereaved say good-bye to a loved one.

Over the past thirty-three years I have buried infants, teens, adults, and aged parents. I have presided over the funerals of men killed in combat, former prisoners of war, and President Gerald Ford.

The Episcopal Burial Office enables the living not only to grieve, but to find hope for the future and confidence in the Resurrection. It is both dignified and majestic. When used for military funerals, it lends great honor to those who have shown that greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
